PPL 15: No Shortcuts to Scale

Publication Date

What does it take to thoughtfully scale public services and products? Drawing on Public Policy Lab’s essay, No Shortcuts to Scale, this conversation explored perspectives on scaling innovations in the public sector.

In this discussion, PPL research director Judy Park Lee was joined by Jimmy Chen of PropelSophia Heller of NYC Administration for Children’s Services, and Jamer Hunt of Parsons School of Design. Together, they reflected on what it means to design for scale and discussed different approaches across government, technology, and complex systems. They also explored topics such as the meaning of “impact at scale” and whether achieving scale is always the right goal.

This event is part of PPL15, a series celebrating the Public Policy Lab’s 15th anniversary. You can find past blog posts and virtual events on our website.
