Reimagining the Library as a Digital Hub

How might we better serve the digital access needs of NYPL patrons and wider communities?

Partners & Funders

The Project

Almost 30% of New York households do not have a broadband subscription at home and the same percentage lack mobile broadband connection. For the New York Public Library (NYPL), PPL researched New Yorker’s digital access needs and how the library might support them.

The Outcome

After months of research, our findings informed a NYPL pilot to provide free Internet access through the Citizens Broadband Radio Service.
