The Project

PPL will design a coordinated, voluntary intervention system that connects people who cause harm (PWCH) to evidence-based programming and wraparound support services. The work will explore how referral pathways, service coordination, and program design can promote voluntary engagement and retention, and aid in long-term behavior change.

The Outcome

A sustainable voluntary intervention system for PWCH, with a focus on 1) supporting referral pathways and coordination and 2) informing programming that is contextually appropriate and responsive to service-user needs and retention.

Project Background

Domestic Violence (DV) is a pervasive issue impacting individual and community safety. Historically, the City of Chicago has not focused on reducing intimate partner violence at its root. This initiative aims to create regional coordination and develop insights and materials to connect people who cause harm to suitable, voluntary violence intervention and stabilizing services.

This project, Replacing Harm with Help, in partnership with the Chicago Department of Family & Support Services (DFSS), will address this gap for people who cause harm (and, ultimately, their loved ones) by designing and piloting a coordinated, non-court mandated intervention system that connects them to evidence-based programming.
