PPL 15: Leading Without Control

Publication Date

How can one influence change in the public sector? Drawing on Public Policy Lab’s latest essay, The Humanity of Change-Making, this conversation explores topics such as the power of persuasion, the importance of positioning, and the inherent risk of change.

PPL Midwest practice director John Buckley moderated the conversation on championing and implementing public service innovations alongside a panel that featured Public Policy Lab executive director Chelsea Mauldin, Abigail Sullivan of the City of Chicago’s Office of the Mayor, and Alan Brouilette of the Office of the Illinois State Treasurer. Together, they reflected on themes of power, risk, money, and small ‘p’ politics.

This event is part of PPL15, a series celebrating the Public Policy Lab’s 15th anniversary. You can find past blog posts and virtual events on our website.
